NAPUS: No “Official” Announcement from USPS on VER Or Incentives

Rumors and a Message from President Rapoza
March 16, 2012

The NAPUS National Office has been hearing from many Postmasters concerning rumors on Voluntary Early Retirements (VERs) and retirement incentives for those who are eligible to retire.  The rumor mill is alive and well, and while many of the things that have been published may have credibility, there has been no official announcement from the Postal Service on VER’s or incentives for retirement eligible employees.  Please look for updates on these and other important developments as they are officially announced, by checking the NAPUS website, Breaking News page.

Rumors are a natural occurence during times like these, but nothing will replace the facts, and that can only happen when an official announcement is made by the Postal Service.  You can be assured that your NAPUS leaders are involved with postal leaders and nothing will be published until it is official.

NAPUS President, Bob Rapoza has issued a message to NAPUS members in response to a mass mailing that was sent to Postmasters this week from the National Association of Postal Supervisors (NAPS,) inviting Postmasters to join the supervisory organization.  The Postal Service does not recognize NAPS as a representative for Postmasters in the consultative process for planning and developing pay policies and schedules, fringe benefit programs, and other programs relating to Postmasters.  For more on President Rapoza’s comments, click http://www.napus.org/president-rapozas-updates/

  1. If you worked for me, you would be licking my boots, craft peon. Now get back on your paper route.

  2. Hey #1 Supervisor. I have forgot more than you know you angry suck ass. You have an exciting career ahead of you. How many workers have you thrown under the bus so far? Your intellect I hear in your statement tells me you are the internet junkie! And you don’t know what work is if you are a flunkie supervisor.

  3. Very good thinking JLR. I don’t think anyone can argue with you on that! We make darn good money and benefits. We have the TSP and Flex account to put tax free money in and overtime too! You factor all that in ,and a small cash payment to retire doesn’t carry much of an incentive. What you said could be very true about Portland carriers. The friend I talked to about it is from here and we carried together for some time before he transfered up there. I really think he would know, but I can understand your thinking! God Bless!

  4. In reference to Hardworking Long Time Letter Carrier on Monday 19th March 2012 at 11:10 AM. Thanks for the information you received from Portland, Oregon. I just wanted to know if employees did or did not receive the alleged information of J. Alec on Friday March 16, 2012. However, J. Alec seems creditable at this time. It may be that some employees did receive the incentive information and others didn’t at this time. Either way, I will stick to my retirement plan for another two (2) years. If an incentive comes that is good enough, I will take it. If not, I have nothing to loose making $54,257.00 a year and increasing my retirement benefit.

  5. look at the comments section on postal reporter… someone from NAPUS went on, with a simple statement that the early out/incentives offer should be announced the week of march 16- 23. we shall see… it sounds about right.

  6. One thing that we can establish is: THERE WILL BE AN EARLY OUT. The rest is just details. Adding years? Thats just a Tech Term….its just another way of saying you will get another 2 or 5 percent retirement. At this point in time and considering the financial climate here at the P.O……. it makes sense. Incentives? 10k 20k? Thats peanuts for the P.O. The average pay is 50k+. Its also pocket change for some Posmasters and Higher Ups. There will probably be different dates for VERA as in the past and again it will be only offered to APWU members and Mail Handlers and some EAS

  7. “hard worker”, quit trolling the internet and do some actual work. You don’t know what you are talking about, are a bullsh*tter, and are obviously one lazy craft moron!
